Steel & Chrome
“Look at all that steel and chrome!” –One driver speaking to another at a recent “pride & polish” show truck event
Since Labor Day is the holiday weekend that traditionally heralds the end of the summer, I thought we‘d close things out with a bang and have a little fun - which for me means combining big rigs and heavy metal!
Thanks again for the gracious help of that most ubiquitous trucking editor in the business, David A. Kolman, editor-in-chief of our sister magazine Refrigerated Transporter. Keep your eyes peeled for his cameo appearances in this clip, too. Have a safe holiday and see you in September!

Without exception, I have always enjoyed your last pieces, via e-mail. However, this one was a turn-off. The music almost blasted me out of my chair.
I am now 82 and have been active in the industry as a driver and driver trainer since my army days in 1950,and I am STILL an owner of a commercial vehicle driving school since 1958-in addition to having a Masters degree. Not all of us care for the music which, allegedly, is preferred by truck drivers. It is a myth perpretated by the media-in all its forms-as fact.
Within the group of hundreds of companies, and thousands of drivers I have been associated with, an unusually large proportion do not have CB’s nor do they listen to the radiio.
They just want the peace and solitude of the open road. (Of course, I am only referring to road drivers, now.).
My son, who has been with YELLOW for close to 30 years says that he does not use a CB radio because he is not allowed to “go off route”, in case of road problems and he does not speed. Actually, he can’t. His trucks are , and have been governed at 63mph.
Hey, maybe I did enjoy the article-or else I would not have responded.
Have a good 3 days,
Gil.
